You might be wondering what proofing is and why you need to do it. Proofing is a reading and checking process ensuring your job is printed correctly. It is an opportunity to make any amendments, check volumes, paper grades and finishes. We will work with you to ensure documents are read carefully for any errors. Sometimes the most obvious things can be missed - like phone numbers. Ariel Printing will ensure these mistakes don’t slip through the cracks by giving you opportunity to carefully check your artworks and helping to ensure your final product works for you.
Do you find choosing paper confusing? Are you unsure about gsm/gloss or matte? Let Ariel Printing clarify this for you. Certain finished products suit certain paper type, grade and style.
As a rule, lighter weights of paper (80-100gsm) are used for letterheads and office stationary. 80gsm is standard copying paper, which we are all familiar with. Heavier weights of paper (150- 200gsm) can be used for things such as bookmarks and folders. Even heavier weights of paper (around 300gsm) is generally used for business cards and presentation folders.
Then we have gloss or matte! Gloss finishing usually has a shiny surface. Printing ink looks particularly bright or vibrant on this surface - great for your colour pictures. Matte or silk means a less shiny surface, but still with a vibrant look on the inks surface. Offset paper means a surface similar to copying paper. Printing ink absorbed into the paper and has a more matt effect. We can help you to understand this better when applied to your product.
Supply us your print ready artwork or choose to let us prepare it for you and we will advise on the best production methods. We can guide you on the choice of suitable paper grades for optimum effect. Your art project will be matched to best papers or art boards to suit your purpose. Decide on best finishes for a trifold brochure, through to more complex range of embellishments for catalogue covers and presentation folders. Be it matt or gloss laminate, press applied varnishes and sealers through to spot uv coatings or even raised embossing and foiling. Ask us how we can help you.
For all those things that need doing after the print process. Things like guillotine, trimming, collating, stapling, drilling, taping, folding, perforating, numbering and die cutting.
These items are part of the production finishing process that take your job from a printed sheet into the product you require.
